FuZZ Is Listening To - Whitley - Lost In Time, These guys played at Tropfest and they were Great. I've been wanting to listen to new bands and such, maybe change the radio every so often to hear music i've never heard of before. So Whitley playing at Tropfest was awesome, cause i would have never looked them up if it wasnt for Tropfest.

I call this Random Rambling. And it's just an evaluation of sorts of what's going on right now. .. In other words its a diary entry, that i can't be bothered to write into an actual diary. =)
I think Point form will be fun.
  • So the other night, i was watching Raising Helen, good movie by the way with my new favourite junior actress Abigail Breslin. Also for those who don't know.. Turtles are my favorite animals, cause ONE. they taught me slow and steady wins the race, TWO. they fight crime under our sewers, and THREE. They are the coolest characters in Finding Nemo. Finding Nemo made me realise how much i love Turtles. So after watching Raising Helen i said out loud to the family.. I want a pet turtle... No one really paid attention. Then my sister in law said she once found a turtle and had it as a pet. Then my younger brother said he wants a turtle as a pet too... So later on that night i look up where to buy pet turtles in sydney. Turns out, you need a license to own a reptile!? A LICENSE?! First we need licenses to fish, now one to own a pet turtle?! The Government is jeopardizing everything that has potential to be great. They make it hard for me to own a pet? To go fishing! Damnit! I just want a pet turtle =(
  • I just got home from Tropfest and i gotta say i loved it. The atmosphere, the people, the foxy ladies, the Domain and most of all the price. It was free. But we were underprepared and had no idea what was instore for us. I thought they were gonne be, as zain calls them, "Too kryptic for their own good" short films.. but they weren't they were clear, concise and soo good. Anywhom, we came in hungry, foodless, with wet bums because we had no blanket, and without many essentials needed for Tropfest's sit on the ground festivities. But neverthless it was a helluva fun time, great short films, I gotta say the winner had a really good movie but i personally think some of the others were better, and just a whole new experience for us. Are there any other events of this type? Potential new Tradition's here.. I THINK SO!
Oh right, and i gotta say one of the movies i loved at Tropfest was called "Missing You". Entirely filmed on a mobile phone, it was about a boy filming himself messages for his mom. Like i can't wait to see you again, and how do i make food for my younger brother, good nights and all these other messages about things a mom would provide to her toddler son. It was kind of like a home movie and i thought.. okay.. but then the big punchline at the end comes in and from one small sentence the movie just gets a whole lot deeper. Good stuff, loved it!

Ahh... Just a little bit of Diary entry blogging there. That was a piece of me as of February 23rd 2010, a few months, a few weeks, a few days or even a few hours from now my views may change. But for now, this is what im thinking.

Peace Out, One Love.... Should i get a twitter?

Happy 14th Of February!

FuZZ Is Listening To - K-O's - I Wish I Knew Natalie Portman, Okay One, I WISH I KNEW NATALIE PORTMAN, and two It's a pretty cool song considering it's taking tabs from the California song we all know and love from the O.C. But i have no idea why it's called I wish i knew natalie portman... Hmmm

ZaiN is listening to Parlez Vous Francais - Art vs Science, this song has grown on me like crazy ! PARLEZ VOUS FRANCAIS !? and yeah i song titled in french seems fitting with the topic of the post at hand ;)

The 14th Of February, Anyone want to guess what day it is? Saint Valentines Day? Orrrrr Single Awareness Day? Theres probably more like, Lonely day, Desperation Day and so on, but the two first ones are the bang smackers. So what does one do on the 14th of February? I take that back. What does a single person do on the 14th of February? To find the answer we must date back to many many many centuries earlier. To the 13th Of February 2010. When two young Ruggedly Handsome men were on the MS of N.

Zain I asked izzy, you ask ameerah ;)
FuZZ but tomorow is on?
FuZZ 2?
Zain but its all star weekend tomoro dammit
Zain yeah ok 2

LITTLE DID WE KNOW THAT SOMETHING WAS BREWING OVER AT TWITTER-VILLE!!!

Izzy Says "On the way to the city to meet Fuzz and Zain. Wish you could tag along @pigarmahdar =("
Ameerah Says "@CINTAAMONYET hey I'm going too !!!!"
Izzy Says "@ameeROAR Nice ^^ the disney crew is complete! Yayer."

Great minds think alike. We ended up meeting up at arooooound 5PM. And this is where we begun celebrating "Single Awareness Day" under the umbrella of "Valentines Day"

Your right fuzz we had no idea what we were going to do when we met up with the gang, my hopes were low, why ?! because i witnessed the WORST slam dunk contest in eons, such an anti-climax and lacklustre performance on ALL parts, 4 players and all SHOCKING GARG ! Nonetheless there we were, 5pm across from town hall watchin izzy wait for us. So she finally notices us and off we go to make the most of this concrete jungle, where australian dreams are made of. We did the usual, window shopping, checking out kinokuniya - only the most awesome book store ever (located in the city, 500 George St Sydney) not that im advertising it or anything but you should really check it out...great prices, great value (just like to highlight i am by no means promoting any bookstore in a bias and awesome manner)

Afterrrr we walked all the way back down to market city because that's where we were gonna see a-mirror ? a mirror right fuzz ?

Rightio! She said 15 Minutes. Which in Ameerah language means aboooout 10 Minutes? Give or take? So we made our way down George Street, where all the cool kids hang. On our way down i couldn't help but notice, alllll these young couples, old couples, couple couples, walking together with roses, and flowers and chocolates and teddy bears. Which made me wonder "So on Valentines Day people go to the City?!!?" This is the day where your apparently supposed to go all out and be lovey dovey... but you go City?!?! For What?! The DDR?! "So hey baby, its valentines day.... let's go dance the night away.. at Galaxy World!" ... Little did we know that later that night we saw one of the many reasons people go city for Valentines Day!

So we got to Market City. After the being bombarded with Couples. Checked out Platypus shoes, then sat down wondering.. Are we earlier than Ameerah?! This cant be? I mean she's more prompt that prompt can be. She's Early! If we say meet at 3, she's there at 2! So we give her a call and says meet us at Gloria Jeans, from the get go i was craving a chocolate croissant and iced mocha because im a Coffee Lover In Progress. Seconds later Ameerah is in sights and we meet and greet and say whats up and do our super duper secret handshake. Then we ride the escalator downstairs.... Totally forgetting about Gloria Jeans. "We've gone too far" someone says.... "What are we doing" somebody asks... "Food?" someone else says... "We can try French Riviera" Says a little voice... "Geed" some other person says...

So we go outside and find ourselves in Chinatown, on Chinese New Years, in the middle of Valentines Day, whilst Single Awareness Day is on. Jampacked day i guess.

We decided to take the scenic route to French Riviera,
a place Zain nor I know exists or knows where is located but at this point, who cares Disney Crew's together again and thats all that counts.. right!? So through CHINATOWN!!! we go. Every city has one. We passed the hula hooping old man with a sad story written on cardboard which is true, everyone knows that when it's written on cardboard its true, the 70% off Last day sale man, If i go Chinatown tomorow i'm thinking he'll be making that same promise, Big lines for chinese food and MAMAK Malaysian cuisine, Awfully close to Memek.. look it up... no actually dont. Once we got to french Riviera we decided we didn't want Dessert before Dinner. Cause who does that right? So we stand there for 5 minutes... deciding. The thing about this group is, whenever Zain or I organise it... we have no agenda planned, we just say meet greet.. now lets eat. So we stand there quietly until someone pops out another idea, Everyone looks at Ameerah. Then we walk over to George Street hoping maybe we'll get some ideas there.

On the way to George Street it starts getting chilly, and bits of rain start falling. Everyone pulls out their jackets.
Oh i forgot to say, before we went out i told Zain i was gonna wear a jacket, then i didnt cause it was warm... but zain DID. So it's funny because my plan which i didn't follow through with was a bad choice and now i was the cold one. Isn't that funny? Like so funny? its like Ironic and Karma and hilarious and stuff... ha...ha.. ha..

ANYWAY,We're now standing infront of the three monkeys pub. We stood there pondering, for a good 10 minutes. In silence, standing still, looking around.. thinking of food. While rain falls on us and the city moves all around us. Izzy and I occasionally saying WOOPAH! BUZZAH!!! CHICKAAAHHH!! Then we FINALLY decide to go to a halal shop we saw earlier. We get there, see the menu and say.... No. By now your thinking,w hats wrong with these people. Why can't they make up their minds, be happy with whats there... if your not, then i am. Whats wrong with us?! Jeeez PICKY PICKY! Then we see an Indo restaurant and vote yes and decide.. it's a go go. How was this place Zain?! HOW WAS IT!?

How was it you ask ? it was like every other bloody restaurant in the CBD - not worth going too !! Ok so the food was pretty good but they served each main course as though it was a bloody entree. Ive never been so disappointed to see chicken arrive on my table. Ha and the service was dreadful, I'm pretty sure waited longer than half an hour until i finally asked the waitress when the food was arriving ? I hate asking that but no man should have to endure THAT long before any impending feast ! Finally the food was arriving then Ameerah asks for forks because they only gave us a spoon and a knife each ?! *waiter runs away only to return with ONE fork*
EPIC FACEPALM ! I think it was at that moment i realised i'm never eating anything other than fast food at the CBD again, Im not sure about darling harbour or circular quay but i guess there's no way it could be any worse than the CBloodyD !

I kno y'all must think im some super bitter old masterchef who has nothing better to do then critique in a cynical manner but its true dammit -finding a decent and DIFFERENT place to eat in the CBD is like trying to catch usian bolt in a 100m dash - INVAIN !!
still nonetheless the food was pretty good, i loved the beef dish the most :) So although the restuarant was an average experience we had no idea where this summer night was taking us...or did we ? god i feel asian just insinuating about it !

Gotta hand it to him, he has the pinky's up critiqueing on a well done, no not medium rare.. hehe get it. SOO WHERE do we go after the restaurant? The restaurant that said there are sweets we can take, so we took a handful and walked away, at least they had the decency to give us candy! BUT NO! THE CANDY WAS EXPIRED! We realised this once we were walking down Chinatown and Ameerah was spewing away into a rubbish bin (Alot of Witnesses saw this in Chinatown and was very embarassing.. we can't show our faces there again), while Izzy and Zain look at foreign dvds.

We continued our journey down Chinatown once again, This time with an Agenda. We passed the 70% off last day sale man once again to which Izzy EXCLAIMED "He's pretty...". Ohh lord, Indonesia has lost a dear soul to Japan. What that has to do with anything, i do not know.. but making sense is overrated.

Then we ARRIVE at our Desination. It's called Capitol... and i warn you, it'd Rock your un Rocked World. Once you ride up the escalators, you have no idea what your walking into. Because the atmosphere, the lights, the WORLD changes. You walk into a place that overloads with chimes, the colour pink, fluorescent lights and small eyed people we call asians. It's okay, i'm asian i can say that =)

So while we're all busy being attracted to the flashing lights and fairies flying around. Izzy Chaaarges to the money stand, exchanges her cash and then charges away yet again. While Zain and Ameerah peek into Capitol stands hoping to find a free one, but usually bumping into other peoples sessions. We then all stared at awe at a fluffy cushion toy machine... Oooooohhh... Aaaaahhhh

Then we FINALLY found a free Photo Machine thing.. and oh dear lord... What was instore for us, we could not ever predict. As the coins went in and we sat on a slab of Green plastic we looked around at the japanese writings and bright lights. Then the music started playing, things got loud, happy cartoon faces were attacking us left right and centre, Izzy was still at work, Ameerah was helping her out, Zain and I are trying to figure out what kind of Hell hole we've gotten ourselves into?!?! THEN IT HAPPENS! We're on the screen, we have seconds to move before it takes its shot and then it's game over. It's getting closer and closer, we're clueless, we don't know whats going to happen, The suspense is killing us! AND THEN BANG! IT TAKES A PHOTO OF US IN OUR MOST "TRYING TO BE ASIAN" POSES! But no it does not stop there, it just continues, 10 more times we go through the pain and suffering of thinking up a pose until we stand there and think.. where did the last 2 minutes go. How much have i posed!? WHAT DO WE DO NOW!? WHY IS THE MACHINE SPEAKING JAPANESE?! NONE OF US UNDERSTAND YOU... apart from Izzy, who's listening intently trying to translate it for us.

We then walk outside to choose the pictures, then... Decorate them!? DECORATE THEM.. DECORATE THEM!! Theres glasses, hair coloring, letters and all that! We had trouble writing Single Awareness day... cause we all have shit handwriting.. Oh well =) But when all was said and done we got our pictures. Our mistake here... is expecting large photographs for each of us. No, we got one little card the size of an envelope with a bunch of photos on it. I remember thinking to myself.. do we rip them or something?... then we see the kicker, theres a table with chairs and scissors for us to cut them ourselves.. sort of like arts and crafts. Isn't it thoughtful? And fun!? ... AH WELL, the pictures are great, we had fun and thats the story of how we lost our Capitol Photo Virginity.

So we sort of thought maybe the night ends here. MAYBE its time to go, its 10 and everythings closed. Valentines has come to an end.... HAH, no way buddy! We thought HEY lets go Darling Harbor. Why? I forgot, something to do with other couples or something... i forget. But we make our way there, passing market city. Then Ameerah says, "I'm gonna buy Roses, for the hell of it." Then Zain and I say NO! We put our right foot down and say NO! I buy two roses and gave it to Izzy and Ameerah, then Izzy sly-ly bought two other roses and gave it to me and Zain.... Now all 4 of us had roses, For the cheap end of day price (Who say's love isn't cheap), we weren't unique, singled out on Single Awareness day.. we finally fit in with everyone else. I was on a date with Zain and Ameerah was on a date with Izzy. =D

We walked towards Darling Harbor with Roses in hand, smelling them, swishing them and laughing away. Ameerah then realized her Rose was broked'ed... and had it traded with Zain... That's Valentines Day-ish Business RIGHT THERE!!!

So we walked to Darling Harbor, plops of rain here and there.. when i realise. I have to PEE! And the rain isnt helping, nor are the splashing water features. So after our fairly long walk we find a toilet and take a break. Once out of the toilet... it begins to rain. And we say.. we say.. Whats at Darling Harbor? Couples to look at? I THINK NOT BABY PUPPY!

So we make our way back, and by the time we hit our halfway point.. it starts pouring. And it was one of those positions where, your at point A and theres Point B. Many metres away. No shelter. Rain Pouring. What do you do? Well you can either run for dear life, with a jacket or hoody. Which Zain and Ameerah did.. cause they had A jacket or hoody. OR you can.. pull out an umbrella... and run for dear life. Which is what Izzy and I did thanks to Izzy's umbrella.

We then got into Ameerah's car, and drove towards Padstow. Ameerah offered Zain a lift home, didn't say anything to me or Izzy... but for some reason we still followed into the car as if we were invited. Rude? No... we are psychic... until Ameerah said "I don't know what you guys are doing here, ill just drop you at kingsford"... Shut down.

But no we drove to the Stow, took the scenic route, sung some very old school songs, listened to Richard Mercer, 106.5 BEST.RADIO.STATION.EVER. and had a gay old time. The night came to a close, but it became one of those nights that will live on forever with us. So Happy belated Single Awareness day and Valentines Day...

Peace Out, One Love Folks

Zain Is Listening To - Neopolitan Dreams by Lisa Mitchell

Sorry for the lack of posts recently, I guess you could say I've been on a sort of cyber hiatus - the cause of which may be a number of things but one of the most significant reasons stems from my trip to melbourne to watch the australian open ! I've always been a big fan of tennis since from whenever i can remember. It really is a very entertaining game filled with its fair share of sporting personalities. Anyways i went to see the semi final between murray and cilic. I'm not sure what it was but being seated in the historic Rod Laver Arena and watching some of the titans of tennis clash heads proved quite an overwhelming experience. That's when it hit me. Why have i never pursued tennis, even as a recreational activity ? Ask the other writer on this blog, what's his name again...zaynn i think ? ;P
whenever I watch a major sporting event, i get quietly geed and the next day I want to be the best player to have ever played the respective game.
So after watching the pro's play, (they always make it look so much easier than it looks - thats why they're professional DAMMIT !) So anywho i went to rebel sports soon after and talked to this little asian dude called Filipe and he basically taught me all the dynamics to the art of tennis racquets...those little buggers are the most complex pieces of metal ever ! So i bought a tennis racquet but this is where i start realising why all these years i have not played tennis ?! Let me lay out the finer nominal details involved in playing tennis :

  • tennis balls - packs of 4 - $15 (requires repurchase as those lil green balls of fluff have a limited lifespan)
  • tennis racquet - 3 digit sum
  • racquet restringing - $30, occurs about every 6 months
  • court hire - $14 per hour (and no there's no such thing as free tennis courts !?)
  • requires a partner, or the nominal alternative - $35 per hour to use a machine that shoots out balls
  • generally some form of coaching is recommended to be able to have fun even on a social level (unless your partner is as shocking a player as you are) - at a hefty price, who would've seen that one coming right. Luckily for me, I and my uncle are on the same level of shocking - if we can contain the number of tennis balls flying out of the cage to single digits we're having a good day :)
Im sure there are more monetary limitations to playing tennis which i have yet to discover but these highlight most of them. If you cumulate the number of hours of practice and hardwork required to make it professionally, that sum total can turn out quite nasty. What i mean by all this mumbo jumbo is that all these financial obstacles I feel may be a major reason why Australia can only produce the Lleyton Hewitt standard of professional players, maybe if they made tennis more accessible to the wider demographic, perhaps one or two bright stars may just shine on the international stage. I don't know, it's just a thought hey.

ZaiN ;)
